If you have any identification books at home or in your local library, please look at these first. If you think you know what something is, look for it in the wiki, and follow the links there to see if you can identify it from existing descriptions and photos on the web. For some types of find, there are online identification guides called keys that you can use to identify things yourself - id keys. Write down where and when you saw your find and note the size as best as possible. Try to take a photo or video. Choose the best matching forum for your country and post a message there. Wait patiently for someone to identify it for you. If appropriate, you may be asked to report your find to a known authority - Reporting
